Hotel Investment Partners (HIP) has reopened its Cala San Miguel Hotel Ibiza following the completion of a €35m repositioning programme.
Located on Carrer de ses Oliveres, the adults-only hotel comprises 196 rooms – 34 of which are junior or premium suites. Operated by Barcelo Hotel Group under the brand Curio Collection by Hilton, Cala San Miguel Hotel Ibiza will be operated jointly with 96-room The Club Cala San Miguel Hotel Ibiza, forming the larger Cala San Miguel Resort, comprising 292 rooms, ten restaurants/bars, four swimming pools, wellness facilities and two gyms. Over the next year, HIP will add a third hotel, currently the Galeon, to the complex.
Through the €35m investment, the company - owned by funds managed by Blackstone and GIC – has upgraded Cala San Miguel Hotel Ibiza from four stars to five stars, transforming all areas of the hotel including the restaurant, gym and wellness centre.
Why it matters
Repositionings continue to trend post-Covid, with HIP’s Spanish portfolio seeing some transformation. In 2017 Hotel Investment Partners (HIP) bought the Hotel Selomar for €16 million and last year announced the re-opening of the hotel under a new name, Barcelo Benidorm Beach after spending €27 million renovating the property, turning it from a three-star to a four-star hotel. The company also invested €20 million in the renovation of Club Cala San Miguel Hotel Ibiza, which opened in 2021.
