Hyatt to open 181-room luxury hotel in Frankfurt

Hyatt Hotels has entered into a franchise agreement with SIC Hospitality GmbH to open Kennedy 89, a 181-room luxury hotel in Frankfurt.

Located on Kennedy Allee in the Sachsenhausen district, the hotel will feature a restaurant, bars on the first floor and rooftop, a gym, 1,400 sq ft of banqueting space and underground parking. Of the 181 rooms, all fitted with integrated kitchenettes, 68 will be suites which will feature private balconies with views of the Frankfurt skyline.

This comes as part of Hyatt’s plans to grow its luxury brands in key growth markets across Europe in the places where it says guests, World of Hyatt members and customers want to travel.

Why it matters

Hyatt's decision to expand its luxury brand footprint in Europe starting with Frankfurt indicates a positive outlook on the region's economic and travel prospects, with the decision to open a luxury hotel possibly driven by the segment’s ability to command higher ADR despite inflationary pressures.

JLL’s Hotels & Hospitality Group’s report on The Evolution of Global Luxury Hospitality noted that the supply and demand for luxury hotels is expected to continue to grow over the next ten years, with 46,000 additional ultra-luxury hotel rooms expected to open around the world. It added the luxury hotel segment is expected to continue to attract high levels of investment, especially in urban gateway cities.

What they said

Felicity Black-Roberts, vice president, development for Europe and North Africa at Hyatt said: “With Frankfurt being one of the world’s leading financial centres, we are delighted to announce plans for the first hotel in The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand in the city with this one-of-a-kind property, marking an important milestone in our impressive luxury brand growth in Europe. We are honoured to collaborate with SIC Hospitality GmbH on this project to bring their distinct vision to life in such a key destination that is sure to attract global travelers and locals alike.”

Benjamin Blackman, managing director of SIC Hospitality said: “Combining luxury service with the added flexibility of long-stay comfort, we are confident that Kennedy 89 will be perfectly positioned to help visitors of this vibrant city enjoy an elevated, comfort-rich experience, whether they are in town for a short break or doing business over an extended period, and believe it will be a strong addition to Hyatt’s dynamic brand portfolio.”
