"It was a challenge before the pandemic but right now it's an outright crisis in most parts of the world" said David Kong but how are companies navigating both the challenges and the opportunities? How can we change the industry's reputation and make it attractive as a career again?
Edwin Broers added that we now "have the opportunity to unleash that talent, making sure younger people see it as a career."
We also heard Bazin talk about how he handed the decision-making process to his team on the ground, as such empowering them, he described it as "the best decision he has ever made and it changed everything at Accor."
And of course, a stable workforce is critical to delivering the right customer experience, we heard Brennan explain on the session "Hotel Operations Post Covid" as he spoke about closures due to staff shortages and the impact on the P&L as discussed by Anne-Marie Auriault.
