Melia Hotels inks conversion deal for Gran Hotel Monterrey

Melia Hotels is set to rebrand the Gran Hotel Monterrey in Costa Brava, following an agreement with the property's asset manager, Okami Hotels.

Located in Girona, the Gran Hotel Monterrey will be renovated and adapted to the Meliá Hotels & Resorts brand. Following the renovation, it will launch in the second quarter of 2024 as Meliá Lloret de Mar.

In addition to 200 rooms, the new Meliá Lloret de Mar hotel will also comprise an all-day dining restaurant, an à la carte restaurant, an indoor bar, a pool bar, two swimming pools, a gym, a spa as well as meeting and event facilities.

Why it matters

Melia’s latest deal reflects an increasing trend in the hotel sector towards conversions as companies try to combat costs and reduce their environmental impacts.
