Between 15 and 17 April, more than 2,500 senior representatives from across the hospitality industry will head to Berlin for the International Hospitality Investment Forum (IHIF) 2024.

This year’s speakers include the CEOs of Hyatt, IHG and Accor as well as senior representatives from Starwood, Aimbridge, KSL Capital Partners, Brookfield Asset Management, Bain Capital, and more.

As the hospitality industry continues to navigate through a landscape marked by rapid change and unprecedented challenges as consumer preferences shift, technological advancements accelerate and economic pressures loom large, asset management has never been more critical.

Unlock asset value

In a session entitled ‘Adding value through considerate asset management' (Tuesday 16 April, 12:00) HAMA Europe will showcase case studies of asset management projects that have significantly increased hospitality investment value. Hosted by Harriet Durbin of Panorama Hospitality / HAMA Europe, with insights from Sophie Richard of M&L Hospitality, this segment will reveal how strategic asset management can unlock hidden value.

Strengthen operator-asset manager relationships

The nuanced relationship between operators and asset managers, and the importance of working together for mutual success, is the focus of the session titled ‘Navigating Boundaries: Evolving the Operator-Asset Manager Dynamic in Hospitality’ (Tuesday 16 April, 14:00). This panel discussion, featuring HR Group CEO Ruslan Husry, UBM Development COO Martina Maly-Gartner, Denton Europe’s Global Retail co-chair Babette Marzheuser and L+R Hotels’ COO Neil Kirk, will explore the intricate relationship between owners, asset managers and operators. The focus will revolve around how to optimise collaboration and minimise friction in order to achieve operational excellence and maximize asset value.

Make technology work for you

Hospitality professionals are increasingly turning to generative AI and bespoke solutions to uncover hidden opportunities and streamline operations. At the session ‘Unleashing Proptech Potential: Opportunities for Asset Optimization, Profitability, and more’ (Tuesday 16 April, 15:15), experts will dissect the myriad opportunities that property technology (proptech) presents for revolutionizing the hotel landscape as the sector continues to move towards more integrated, tech-enabled service models, from predictive maintenance via IoT sensors to AI-driven design and imaging. Speakers will include citizenM co-founder Michael Levie, Michael McGraw, Principal Growth Equity at Inovia and Numa co-founder & president Dimitri Chandogin.

As the hospitality sector continues to evolve, a focus on sustainable asset value growth, the integration of proptech, and the strengthening of operator-asset manager partnerships will be key to navigating current challenges while preparing for future opportunities.
